The shallow swamp at Merin Merin Swamp Conservation Reserve has been a good site for the Australian Painted Snipe feeding in the marshy vegetation, although in drought years the swamp is usually dry. At times you can circumnavigate the swamp. With its mature redgum trees its an ideal nesting for many bird varieties, you can also see Richards Pipits in the paddocks nearby. The area covers some 340 hectares.
